Wellness Guidelines

MMS WELLNESS ACTIVITY ORIENTATION AGENDA

ATTIRE INFO:

1.                  REQUIRED DRESS (activity shoes, short, t-shirt, warm-up sweatpants for outdoors)

2.                  CHANGE AND SITTING IN SQUADS 5 MIN. AFTER BELL

3.                  LOST ITEMS CAN BE FOUND IN FIRST AID/COACHES ROOM

4.                  LABEL CLOTHING IF IT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.

5.                  DO NOT SHARE LOCKERS OR CLOTHES WITH CLASSMATES

6.                  SHOWERING IS OPTIONAL (you must provide your own towel)

7.                  NO GLASS CONTAINERS TO BE STORED IN LOCKERS AND ALSO NO AERSOL SPRAYS OR PERFUMES BECAUSE IT IS NOT HEALTHY IN A CLOSED ENVIRONMENT.

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS:

1.                  RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR TO OTHERS IN LOCKERROOM AND GYM AT ALL TIMES

2.                  HANDLE EMOTIONS DURING COMPETITION, “BE A GOOD SPORT” (you will win and lose during the year, learn how to handle both)

3.                  IN ORDER FOR US TO START CLASS ON TIME IT IS IMPORTANT TO SIT IN SQUADS IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING DRESSED

4.                  LEAVE LOCKER ROOM IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING DRESSED IN SCHOOL CLOTHES AND WAIT ON WOOD FLOOR FOR BELL

OTHER CONCERNS:

1.            MEDICAL CONCERNS

-         remind us each unit if activity is restricted

-         a doctors note is required or a parental phone call if 3 days out of activity

-         bring inhalers to class if one is used

2.                  EQUIPMENT ROOM IS OFF LIMITS TO STUDENTS UNLESS PERMISSION TO GO IN THERE

UNITS/TESTING/GRADING:

1.                  2 ˝ TO 3 WK UNITS (12 to 14 days)

2.                  APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 DAYS FUNDAMENTAL WORK WITH 1 DAY STUDYGUIDE, 1 DAY TEST AND 6 TO 8 DAYS PLAYING

3.                  EACH UNIT WILL BE ASSESSED WITH EITHER WRITTEN OR SKILLS TESTING AND A PERCENTAGE GRADE IS GIVEN

4.                  THIS YEAR ALL STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A COMBINED WELLNESS GRADE ALL QUARTERS

5.                  CURRICULUM AND UNITS THAT OCCUR FOR  EACH GRADE

6.                  NOT HAVING A CHANGE OF PE CLOTHES COULD AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF THE UNIT GRADE
